Privacy Policy
How I look after your personal information.
This policy explains how I collect, use and protect your personal data when you use becomingdoula.co.uk or work with me. I take your privacy seriously and handle your information in line with UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). The data controller is Hannah Campbell / A Journey Ahead Limited, contactable at hannah@journeyaheaddoula.co.uk.
1. The information I collect
I may collect and process:
● Your name, email address and phone number, when you enquire, book a call, or purchase a service.
● Information you share on enrolment or discovery forms — which may include details about your background, goals, health, access needs, dietary requirements, or other personal circumstances you choose to share.
● Payment information, processed securely by my payment providers (I do not store your full card details).
● Technical data such as your IP address and how you use the website, collected via cookies and analytics.
2. How I use your information
I use your information to: respond to your enquiries; deliver the services you book; tailor your experience and support your learning; process payments; send you information you've asked for; and meet my legal and accounting obligations. Where you've agreed to it, I may also send you occasional updates about my work — and you can unsubscribe at any time.
3. Sensitive information
Some information you share (for example about health, neurodivergence or access needs) is “special category” data. I only collect it so I can support you properly, I treat it with particular care, and I only use it for that purpose. You never have to share more than you're comfortable with.
4. Legal basis for processing
I process your data on the basis of: performing our contract (to deliver services you've booked); your consent (for marketing and any special category data); and my legitimate interests (running and improving my business), balanced against your rights.
5. Sharing your information
I never sell your data. I share it only with trusted providers (Squarespace, Dubsado, Stripe/PayPal, MailerLite) who help me run my business — for example my booking and client-management system, email platform, and payment processors — who process it securely on my behalf. I may disclose information where required by law.
6. How long I keep it
I keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, financial records are kept for six years). After that, it is securely deleted.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, just contact me. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
8. Cookies
My website uses cookies to help it function and to understand how visitors use it. You can control cookies through your browser settings and through any cookie banner shown on the site.
9. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be published here.
