Inclusivity Policy
This work belongs to every kind of woman.
Becoming Doula exists to train women to hold other women through some of the most powerful moments of their lives. That work is for everyone — and so is this training.
Our commitment
I am committed to creating a learning space that is welcoming, safe and respectful for all. I warmly welcome women of every background, race, ethnicity, faith, body, age, sexuality, neurotype and life experience. There is a doula for every woman, which means there is a place in this work for every kind of woman — and every kind of doula.
Neurodivergence and accessibility
This training was built by someone who thinks differently, and it is designed with different minds and bodies in mind. If you are neurodivergent, disabled, or have any access needs, you are not an afterthought here — you are welcome, and I will do everything I reasonably can to make the experience work for you. My enrolment process invites you to share what helps you learn and feel comfortable, and I encourage you to tell me anything that will help me support you well.
Respect within our spaces
Every woman in my training deserves to feel safe and respected. Discrimination, harassment, prejudice or unkindness towards any participant — on any grounds — has no place here and will not be tolerated. I reserve the right to remove anyone whose conduct undermines the safety of the group.
Inclusive practice as doulas
As part of your training, you'll learn to offer inclusive, culturally safe, non-judgemental care to every family you support — meeting each woman as she is, honouring her body, her beliefs, her choices and her story. This isn't an add-on to the work. It is the work.
Talk to me
If there is anything I can do to make this training more accessible or welcoming for you, or if you ever feel this commitment isn't being met, please tell me. You can reach me at hannah@journeyaheadoula.co.uk. I will always listen.
